WHAT WHEELS WILL FIT MY ALTIMA?! Will it fit? Rub?

Ok guys i get a decent amount of emails asking me basic fitment questions on what wheel sizes will fit our Altimas.

First, the bolt pattern is 5x114.3 (some places may call it 5x114, dont get nervous)

Lug Nut size is 12 x 1.25 (make sure to pick up a thin wall socket)

Something that is very important is staying close to the stock diameter of the entire tire/wheel combination.

Check this site out. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html Once you find the wheel you like, use that to find the right tire size.

3.5 Stock Information
17x7.5 26.3" Diameter +45 offset ---> 215 / 55/ 17. This means, the tire is 215mm wide, the side wall is 55% of the width of the tire (215 x .55 = 11.825cm) ... 11.825cm / 2.54cm per inch = 4.655 inches for each side wall. 4.655 x 2 (two sidewalls)= 9.31 inches + 17 inches (size of wheel) is 26.31 inches. (incase you wanted the math)

So for a 20" rim, you could get a 225, 235, 245, or 255 cm wide tire, however, note that when you go wider with the tire, the smaller the sidewall is gonna be in order to fit close to factory specs. And the smaller the sidewall, the more uncomfortable the ride will be.

For 20" rims, here are some possible tires to stay close to factory specs

225/30/20 = 25.31
225/35/20 = 26.2
225/40/20 = 27.08

235/30/20 = 25.55
235/35/20 = 26.47
235/40/20 = 27.4

245/30/20 = 25.78
245/35/20 = 26.75
245/40/20 = 27.71

The ones in bold are the closest to factory specs. You can do the same equation above for 18 and 19" rims

Some specs on 19s
19x8:
225/40/19 = 26.1"
235/40/19 = 26.4"

19x8.5:
235/40/19 = 26.4"

And some on 18s
18x8 on 235/45/18 will get you to EXACT factory specs (26.3")
but 225/45/18 (26.0") is damn close enough and tires are a lot cheaper.

This info is for the 08 Altima Coupe and is a work in progress... Chime in with your fitment/offset/drop

ALL Stock Infiniti G wheels will fit.

Ovrbst had NO RUBS with a staggered 19x9x5 fronts and 19x10.5 rear setup (no drop, that would cause issues)

I will be "sweeping up" the thread to make it very easy to understand.

here's the calculator I use:
http://www.powerdog.com/tiresize.cgi

here's how it works
you copy paste this (if you are a 3.5SE):
215/55/17
as the first line, you hit "ENTER" on your keyboard to go to the line below, and then you type the tire size you want to check .

eg:
245/40/19

it will tell you all you need to know

a good guideline is to try to stay plus (+) or minus (-) 3% from factory specs

Peoples have been able to run anything up to 9.5 inch wide rims with an offset from +45 to +25 without rubbing on the 3.5SE's firm suspension.
for the tire size, just check the calculator to see that your "Diameter" isn't more than one inch taller than stock (again if you have 3.5SEs) and it will not rub.

Hope that helps

For those looking at 19"s--

The stock radius of the 3.5 is 215/55/17s which equals a radius of 334.01 mm. (like LBC mentioned in inches)

New Tire Size / Radius in mm / mm difference in height off the ground from stock
235/35R19 / 323.34 mm / -10.67 mm difference / -3.2%
235/40R19 / 335.28 mm / +1.27 mm difference / +0.3%
245/35R19 / 326.89 mm / -7.12 mm difference / -2.1%
245/40R19 / 339.09 mm / +5.08 mm difference / +1.5%

Like mcheddadi mentioned, you dont want anything + or - 3% over factory specs. This is due not only to fitment issues, but also the effectiveness of your factory brakes.

My question to the experts here is the following:
I am getting 19x8 5x114.3 wheels. I have the Eibach drop.
If I buy 245/40/19, I will gain +5.08 mm of height off the pavement correct?
Is this a good size that you all would recommend? Seems the most logical as it raises my car a few mm, is 1.5% close to stock size and fills my wheel wells a bit more.

The stock 3.5 tires have a +45 offset. That should not affect my new tires correct? My new ones are the Konig ET30, so that is the +30 offset? Would the change in offset affect my handling or would I need anything special for the wheels?

you won't rub, don't worry. LBC has less firm suspentions and 20s with a worst offset and he doesn't rub after the drop.

I have 245/40/19 on +40 with hubcentric spacers and I don't rub with the drop

this calculator does the computation to one more decimal point and also will show how far off your speed readings will be at different speeds.
I like how mcheddadis one shows how far off your odometer will be.

So a 3.5 Coupe with new 19x8 5x114.3 wheels (offset of 30), 245/40/19 tires, and the Eibach drop won't have any issues? Good deal.

My last question before I buy my tires is will I need any spacers or new bolts to attach my new wheels or can I use the bolts that came with my 3.5 coupe? (I also bought a set of the special bolts (4 total, 1 per wheel) so noone steals my wheels).

No reason to get one unless he wants push out wheel even farther from the hub. Which in this case is not a good idea as hes already aggressive.

You don't need it. They are spacers with a built in hub support. The more important one is getting hubcentric rings if the inner hub bore of your wheel doesn't match to OEM spec, which is 66.1 mm. In your case, the Konig wheels hub bore size is 73mm, which means you will need hubcentric rings. Whoever you bought the wheels from should of supplied you with them.

Your pushing the limit, but your wheels will be flushed.

No you don't need any new spacers. I am assuming your talking about lugnuts when your saying bolts. The stock 3.5 lugnuts should work with your new wheels.

Yep that'd be it. Forgive my "noobness".

Cheers for the info Loop!

Does a purchase of new wheels usually include the hubcentric rings? If not, where do you recommend to pick them up from and how much should I be looking to spend boss?

with 10inch width you'd be pushing new boundaries lol.

I don't know for sure, it depends on the tire size and the width of the inner fender well. I know some did 9.5 without a drop. but i'm not so sure about 10 with a drop

i am looking at these
they are 18 inch rims will they fit my car? and what tire size would i need to get?

OK, ill make it REAL SIMPLE. YOU CAN FIT ANYTHING UP TO 24 INCHES.

k?

the only factor you need to worry about is OFFSET, RIM WIDTH and TIRE SIZE

I have a quick question about offset...

Tire Rack shows that basically every wheel they offer will fit on the a/c, all with varying offsets. I wanted to get a 18" wheel with either an 8 or 8.5" width, but i don't really know what offset i should be getting with that - and they way everything on the 'net reads about offsets, it sounds like if you get the wrong one you will screw up the way the tire tread wears, the car drives, etc....

what kind of offset should you get for an 8" or 8.5" wheel?

So my final setup will be Konig Troubles 19x8 5x114.3 with an offset of 30 and Kuhmo Ecsta Lx Platinum All Seasons in 245/40R19.

Tire Size:
New Tire Size / Radius in mm / mm difference in height off the ground from stock
245/40R19 / 339.09 mm / +5.08 mm difference / +1.5%

Wheel offset: Clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 9mm more but the outside edge of the wheel will extend an extra 21mm...

Does anyone have a setup like this? Is a +30 offset with 19x8s going to have any issues (rubbing/performance/etc)?

I will be calling Stillen today to ask for my hubcentric rings. I called Konig and they told me to definitely get them if I want a smoother ride at high speeds. OEM spec is 66.1 mm and the Konig wheels hub bore size is 73mm, so like Loop stated, I will need a hubcentric ring. Konig assured me they do not make, nor ship hubcentric rings with their wheels- it is the sellers part to do so (tirerack.com, Stillen, etc). So, I'm off to call Stillen. They only cost like $10.

Any info or insight on my setup would be much appreciated fellas!

Is 19x8.5 with a 35mm offset on an eibach drop too much, in terms of rubbing/fitment? based the original post, I would go with either P235/40/19 or P245/40/19 (which tire would provide most comfort?)

Hell yeah. I have one on each wheel-- will transfer from my current stockers to the new wheels as soon as my tires come! (If the lugs will fit anyway) -- Everything is a learning experience!

Just ordered Hubcentric Rings (Inside Diameter 66.1mm Outside Diameter 73mm) instead of screwing around with Stillen-- I'm sure they don't have the rings due to the fact this was a special deal. Anyway here is where I got my hubcentric rings:
http://www.sfxperformance.com/parts/TOPC736610.htm
Cost me $15 plus shipping - total came to $22.
